Reality Show Roundup: Week 4/24/2011

We like reality shows. And we really, really like Real Housewives of Orange County and Khloe & Lamar. So we thought it’d be nice to write recaps of the two for other reality junkies that might have missed the latest episodes.

Real Housewives of Orange County

It was Gretchen’s birthday, so Slade surprises her with a trip to his friend’s art studio. After commenting on how poor he is, Slade pulls out the fine plasticware and take-out meals for dinner. Later, he reveals the big birthday present: a portrait of Gretchen painted by his artist friend. It was a nice gesture, but Gretchen made it clear that she would have preferred jewelry instead.

Alexis is hard at work on her new dress line — Alexis Couture — although she doesn’t even know what couture means. Sitting down for a glass of wine with Vicki, we learn that Alexis doesn’t have a design background at all, but felt inclined to start her line after receiving a lot of compliments on her style.

Peggy and Tamra are invited to walk the runway for a friend’s fashion show. Peggy feels more at ease and commands the stage with her “pimp walk on the runway,” as Tamra referred to it. Even though she was nervous at first, Tamra takes the stage with her own diva strut.

Fernanda confesses to Lynne that she and Tamra shared a “little kiss” a year ago. Though she brushes it off, saying that it was nothing, really, I wonder why she thought it necessary to bring it up in the first place.

Lynne and Jeana made cameos in Sunday night’s episode. Jeana seems to have lost a little weight and Lynne is working on getting her life back on track. I look forward to seeing them back on the show in future episodes.

Khloe & Lamar
By Arundel Bell

Khloe Kardashian is unhappy with almost everyone this time around, including herself. She claims she has some OCD tendencies. She’s right about one thing: their house is an absolute pit, and Lamar refuses to help.

“You want to live in filth? Go for it, little piglets,” Khloe says.

She then makes the house even messier and refuses to clean up until her husband decides to pitch in. That is real mature of her, but he still refuses to clean.

Not only is she dealing with the filth in the house, she is also dealing with the FAT issue in the house. The fat issue is her. Rob and Kris talk to her about her weight. Rob tells her the people in the press are talking about her. Kris calls Khloe, worried about Quick Trim. Kris basically calls her daughter fat and tells her to stop eating cookies. Of course, Khloe takes this to heart and starts to work out. Khloe deals with her weight by going to work out with Richard Simmons at Slimmons Studio, which offers a few moments of hilarity and craziness.

After the photo shoot for Fearless, she admits to Lamar that she’s tired of acting happy about her weight. But no matter what Lamar says about how he loves her as is, she doesn’t want to hear it. Finally, Lamar decides to grow up.

“Part of being married is meeting at the 50 yard line,” he says.

He decides to clean — but he first farts. Khloe gives him a look: “What? I’m cleaning.” “That’s dusting,” he says. That perfectly summarizes this show: one big crop dusting of farts.
