Alright people, it’s game time! This Thanksgiving it’s all up for grabs, with the Dallas Cowboy going up against the…
Ok, I can’t even make it through that 2nd sentence. Look, I’ll be honest (at least here, the rest of this post might be an elaborate ruse, played just on you), sports just doesn’t click with me. You might be the same. Oh sure, most of us like stuffing our faces to the point of nausea with turkey goodness, potatoes of the mashed variety with a gravy of your choice and some pumpkin pie, but it’s the after party that I just don’t get. Why do I want to watch a bunch of strangers shoving each other around a field, chasing a ball, for a couple of hours? I think a sharp blow to the head would bring me more enjoyment (and no, that’s not an open invitation to assault me).
So what I’m going to do is give you alternatives to sports fever madness. Being who I am, this is definitely going to have a nerd bent to it. These are all subjective; your mileage might vary. Seriously, though, don’t hit me in the head — my wife wouldn’t care for that.
Movies and Television
You’re on a Blockbuster blog, so what, you’re surprised that I’m talking about media off the top? Come on. Now, some of these are Thanksgiving themed, some are just my favorite stuff to watch.
Now this is my jam, baby! I am a child of the gaming generation. I grew up on Pong and Atari, it’s in my blood. It’s in my DNA. While I enjoy PS3, I’m currently an Xbox 360 zombie (wait, wrong holiday).
Yes, I’m including comics in books, just shut up already. When you make your list, you can pass over comics if you want.
The Walking Dead — Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard
The Camelot Papers — Peter David
That Is All — John Hodgman
11/22/63 — Stephen King
The Autobiography of Mark Twain, Vol. 1 — Mark Twain
Put these in your ear holes and enjoy.
Just kidding, who wants that?
These are shows that you can watch on your external brain, I mean your computer.
