If you like cute doggie pics; Gary Oldman; movies about debauchery; or news about called-off marriages, read on. All of those things top our list of entertainment news of the week.
- Biggest celebrity story of the week IMO: Demi Moore is rushed to the hospital for issues with exhaustion and substance abuse; drops out of Lovelace.
- Actor James Farentino dies at 73. You might remember him from his time on TV shows such as Dynasty and the The Bold Ones, or for stalking his ex-girlfriend Tina Sinatra in the early 90s.
- Fun fact: Despite an extensive background in critically acclaimed roles, Gary Oldman has never been nominated for an Academy Award, until now! Oldman is nominated for Best Actor for his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy in this year’s Academy Awards.
- In The Hangover 3 buzz, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms are asking for $15 million each for their roles in the latest film. That’s 3x more than what they each made for The Hangover 2. And if you believe internet rumors and/or reports, they’re likely to get it.
- The Writers Guild of America has announced that Joel McHale and Zooey Deschanel will host its awards show. I’m sorry but I’m not sitting through another ukulele duet number.
- Aretha Franklin calls off the wedding she just announced, like, a month ago to marry longtime friend Willie Wilkerson. In related news, Kristin Cavallari and on-again, off-again fiancé Jay Cutler are expecting their first child.
- What a stink! The Social Network star Armie Hammer was arrested at a border patrol checkpoint in West Texas for pot possession. He only spent a day in jail before paying $1,000 bond.
- Superstar dog Uggie from The Artist is retiring. He’s looking forward to long naps, belly rubs and organic doggie treats.
- Self-made gazillionaire Bethany Frankel is getting a talk show this summer. Set to be a trial run, the show will only appear on Fox stations in select areas for 6 weeks.
- From The Hollywood Reporter: Tracy Morgan returns to the set of 30 Rock after that whole collapsing incident at the Sundance Film Festival. He’s doing A-OK.
