Top 10 Entertainment Stories of the Week

The drama in Hollywood never seems to stop. We’ve got the top 10 stories from The Entertainment Capital of the World right here!

  • Roger Ebert gives 21 Jump Street 3 stars, saying “here’s the last movie I was expecting with this title. In other words, ’21 Jump Street’ is pretty good.”
  • Halle Berry will headline The Hive, which will be directed by Brad Anderson this summer. The movie is a suspense set against the backdrop of a 911 call center.
  • Jermaine Jones is no longer a member of American Idol’s top 12. He was disqualified on Tuesday after failing to own up to execs about his arrest record.

  • The jury enters the second day of deliberations in the Desperate Housewives trial. In it, Nicollette Sheridan claims that she was wrongfully terminated from the show in retaliation for her complaining that the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, hit her during an on-set dispute.
  • HBO has cancelled its horse-riding drama Luck after 3 horses died during filming. To be fair, its ratings have also dropped to 500,000 viewers since its first Sunday night broadcast.
  •  The Academy announced on Wednesday that the 85th Academy Awards will air on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013. Nominations will go out Jan. 14. It will again take place at the Kodak Theater, but it’s not called the Kodak Theater anymore, so whatever they decide to call it — yeah, it’ll still be there.

  • The Bodyguard will return to theaters for one night only — on March 28 — in celebration of its 20th anniversary. The romantic drama will show in more than 400 select movie theaters across the country.
  • The Wrap reports that Kiefer Sutherland is pissed at 20th Century Fox. It has decided to stop production of the movie version of the TV show “24” over budget and star salary issues. They will not go anywhere over $30 mil. He insists on a budget somewhere in the low $40s, at least.
  • There’s an arrest warrant out for Russell Brand in New Orleans. Earlier this week, he snatched a paparazzo’s iPhone and hurled it through a window. The warrant issued is for Simple Criminal Damage.
  • It’s Eva Longoria’s birthday today! She turns 37 and, somehow, still looks like she’s somewhere around 25.
