- Host of American Bandstand and New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Dick Clark, died yesterday from a heart attack. He was 82.
- The Tribeca Film Festival opened yesterday for its 12-day event. High-profile screenings of the festival include Five Year Engagement and The Avengers.
- The Wrap confirms that Iron Man 3 will be co-produced in China with efforts by The Walt Disney Company and DMG Entertainment. Shooting starts in May in the U.S., and filming in China begins late summer.
- Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are engaged, finally. Now that they’ve been together for 7 years and have a ton of kids, the news is hardly exciting to me anymore.
- Ryan O’Neal has been diagnosed with Stage 2 prostate cancer. Luckily, the cancer was found in its early stages and can be removed for a full recovery.
- Eva Longoria will produce NBC’s new dating show Waiting for Love. The show will air the end of 2012 and will be hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic. The show will use online dating profiles and proven matchmakers to help singles find their matches.
- Jake Gyllenhaal is going off-broadway! He has signed on to star in the off-broadway play by Nick Payne, If There Is I Haven’t Found It Yet. The play’s official opening is set for Sept. 20 at the Laura Pels Theatre.
- The Cannes Film Festival has announced its 2012 lineup. Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom will open the festival. It runs May 16 – 27.
- Lionsgate is still trying to decide on who will direct the Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. It’s reported that the studio has met with Bennett Miller, director of Moneyball, and Francis Lawrence, who directed I Am Legend.
- So Pauly D is being sued by International Creative Management. ICM claims that the reality star owes them money. But the most interesting part about the suit is that it claims that Pauly D made $100,000 per episode for season 4 of the Jersey Shore. That’s 12 episodes. And, even juicier, it claims he’s making $175,000 for each of the 12 episodes of season 6!
